What style of photography do you do?
You will find that the best wedding photography encompasses a range of styles. We love shooting casually posed, fun images of the bride and groom and wedding party! Of course, we will also capture traditional portraits and groupings of your family and relatives. (Working as a team of two photographers makes this process quick and painless.) For the ceremony and reception, our style is unobtrusive and photojournalistic, as we capture the expressions, excitement and details of the event. This creates a set of photos that tell the story of your wedding day in a beautiful way!

How much should I expect it to cost?
Our photography packages range from $1,600 to $5,000, depending on the timeframe of your wedding, and any albums or products that you select. See our Pricing & Packages page for more details.

Do both of you shoot together at every wedding?
We believe that having two photographers capturing images throughout the day offers a huge advantage in being able to document the full story of your wedding. Starting with photos while the bride and groom are getting ready, all through the reception where there is activity happening all around, we are able to be much more effective working as a team. Also, having photographed so many weddings together as a husband and wife, we have a natural sense of each other's "rhythm" and position during the events of the day, and know exactly what will be captured by the other person, and when. We know how to work together, and do it well! We may also bring an assistant to help with equipment and lighting, depending on the circumstances of your wedding.

However, we both have plenty of experience shooting weddings independently, and do offer coverage by a single photographer as an economical option to save money on your wedding photography.

How long will it take for us to receive our photos?
Even during the height of wedding season, we do our best to process photos and deliver them as soon as possible. (We like to have the events of your wedding day fresh on our mind as we process and retouch the photos.) Typically you will receive your photos within two weeks of the wedding.

How many images will we get?
Our desire is to deliver to you a finished set of photos that tell the story of your wedding as best as possible. Of course, each wedding is different, and depending on the timeframe of your wedding, you'll likely receive from 250-600 photos. Every single one will be fully retouched by hand and prepared for display and printing. (For every hour we spend shooting at your wedding, we'll spend 3-4 hours afterwards carefully selecting and processing the photos for best results.) These will then be available on a password-protected online gallery where you can share them with your friends and family and order prints, and we will also provide you with a CD of the finished product as high-resolution JPG files.

What kind of retouching do you do?
We will make adjustments by hand to fine-tune contrast, color, sharpness and cropping on every photo you receive. We will also make subtle lighting adjustments ("burning/dodging" in darkroom terms) to emphasize the composition of some photos, and may discreetly clean up or remove distracting background elements. These adjustments are done at our discretion as we process the photos, and we will also (unless requested otherwise) present a selection of the photos in black and white. If you let us know of any special requests in advance, we can also do minor skin retouching as desired. Finally, we may select, at our discretion, up to a dozen photos to edit in an alternative, contemporary fashion, such as the textured image you see to the right. (We commonly use cross-processing, texturing, and other effects to bring out additional drama in photos.) These will be delivered in addition to the more traditionally-processed originals.

Can we use the photos however we like?
Absolutely! The files we provide you do not have watermarks or copy protection. You will be granted full rights for printing, reproducing and copying the photographs for personal purposes. You're welcome to duplicate the CD, post your images in online albums, or print the photos yourself! We do recommend purchasing prints through the online gallery hosted by us, as we work with one of the highest-quality photo labs in the nation to produce prints of spectacular quality and vivid colors, far beyond what a typical local photo lab can offer.

Can our friends and family take pictures too?
Yes! Our desire is for you to enjoy as many photos of your wedding day as possible. We are happy to accommodate friends and relatives who would like to take their own photos, even during posed family groupings. We will work with them to make sure that everything flows smoothly and that there's no confusion in the process.

How does the album design process work?
We'll discuss artistic design options with you to get an idea of your desired style, and ask you after the wedding to select the photos for your albums from the complete online gallery. (If this is not done within 4 months of the images being made available to you, we will select the photos for the album ourselves.) We'll then design a layout by hand using the selected photos, and make it available for your review. You may request adjustments to the layouts, which we will apply and review with you for your approval. (Adjustments may be requested no more than three times before an additional fee will be incurred.) Expect the initial design to take approximately 4 weeks for completion, and 1-2 weeks for each adjustment. Upon your approval, we will start the album production process and should have them ready to deliver to you within 3 weeks.

Do we need to provide food for you at the reception?
We do request that if the wedding reception includes a meal for the guests, that we be given the opportunity to eat as well. There aren't as many photo opportunities to be had when the guests are eating, so that's generally a good time for us to have a quick meal. It doesn't have to be the same as your sit-down meal for guests (many caterers offer "vendor meals" as an option), but keeping us fed during a long day ensures that we will be able to do our job effectively and cheerfully!

When do we need to book you for our wedding?
As early as possible, since our schedule is generally unpredictable. Our bookings are commonly made anywhere from 2 to 18 months in advance, and it's important to contact us earlier rather than later to ensure that we will be available for your wedding.

What if we don't know the schedule of our wedding yet?
No problem! Although our wedding packages are designed around the timeframe of your wedding, we completely understand that you may still be in progress of settling the details. We will contact you for a pre-wedding consultation approximately a month before your big day, to sync up and finalize plans, and it's not at all unusual to fine-tune the schedule or the length of photography coverage at that point.
